“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Truly she was your servant, Lord; She served you just as her mother did; you have freed her from her chains.“ (Psalm 116:15-16)
Gladys Elaine Heath passed away on April 8, 2024 after a battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on October 10, 1930 in Brookville, PA and there spent most of her young life. She would tell you that she had “the perfect childhood” in Brookville as part of a happy and loving family.
Gladys was know for her laugh, her smile, her sense of humor, and her big heart. She had the ability to blend in with any crowd and carry a conversation no matter what the topic. She never met a stranger.
Her life was filled with accomplishments and hard work. She was valedictorian and the president of her high school class. She served as an executive secretary in two separate industries, worked in a blast-furnace in a steel mill, became a florist and started her own business. Her biggest accomplishment was raising her four children largely on her own.
Gladys’ family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others and not the sadness of her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Dorothy Miller, and her siblings Helen Bockoras, Pat Beattie, and Bob Miller. She is survived by her brother Jim Miller (Carole); her children: Sharon Curll (Van), Mary Ayer (Richard), Pat Williams (Neil), and Mike Heath (Sybil); her grandchildren: Clifford Ayer, Justin Williams, and Katy Barker; four great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Kiley, Penelope, and Alexandra.
She will be laid to rest at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Day, Pennsylvania. A private ceremony will be held at the graveside at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. Online condolences and other information may be found by visiting www.dargyfh.com
