Nelson J. Wright, 75, of Punxsutawney died peacefully at home on July 3, 2019.  He was a kind, caring, and loving man.  He died of cancer.

Nelson married Shirley Baker, January 14, 2000 but they had been happy together for more than 30 years.

He lived in the Boston area and did many things in his life.  When he and Shirley moved to Punxy. in 2004, he loved being a school bus driver but he always said, “The best thing I ever did was when I met my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and became born again.”  Nelson knew when the time came, and he left the earth, his address would change and God would make a resting place in His Heavenly Kingdom.  Nelson’s family and friends now know where Nelson lives!

Nelson is survived by his wife Shirley, his daughter Melanie and her fiancé Devin from Pittsburgh, PA, his son Eric and wife Stacy and their children Rachel, Anthony, & Brandon; his daughter Michelle and husband Dorian, all from Massachusetts; as well as his son Nelson and wife Amy  and their daughters Tristan and Dylan from California.  Nelson is also survived by his father-in-law Herbert Baker of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents Nelson Sr. and Dorothea Wright, his three brothers William, Arthur, and Henry, and his mother-in-law Ann Baker.

Nelson’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home of Punxsutawney..

At Nelson’s request, there will be no visitation nor a funeral but he would like to leave everyone with this scripture verse:

“For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son ad believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”   John 6:40 (NIV)

nelson is in a better place now. I met him when he first moved here and anytime I passed his home he always waived or I pulled over and talked. He was a very nice man may God take his sole. My condolences go out to the family.

Dearest Friend: Nelson will best be remembered in my heart for his love of His Lord and Savior. So many times he expressed his gratitude for the love and mercy God showed him. Many times he would testify how thankful he was to God for his salvation and his beautiful wife and always the gift of another day of life. Nelson exemplified his faith by his kind words, deeds and unending prayers. He will be fondly missed and remembered for a life well lived giving God all the glory!

Shirley and Melanie,

We were saddened to hear of Nelson's passing. He was such a friendly and happy guy. Dave enjoyed visiting with him at Dunmire's garage. By reading his obituary one knows that he is with his Savior. May God bless you during this sad time and always.

You are in our thoughts and prayers,

Dear Michelle and Eric,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved dad.
Although I never met him, I saw the result of his influence in the kindness, love and compassion I see in the two of you. May god rest and keep his soul

Dear Shirley,
I met Nelson through the Punxsy CMA Church. I work at the Rainbow Express Pre-School and he was always there in the mornings when I arrived. I have never met a kinder, harder worker and person so in love with Jesus. Through every action and word with my staff and the children attending the school he lived out his faith. Even during his last days of work when we all knew he wasn’t feeling well he remained joyful and hopeful, confident in the Lord’s will for his life. When school begins again his smiling face and kind gestures (he would bring us donuts) will be sorely missed. Please accept my sympathy and prayers for you and your family. We have never met but Nelson always spoke of you with love. Be at peace knowing he is with his Jesus!
Blessings,
Karen Blough
