Betty Jean Mauk, 92, of Brookville, PA, passed away during the morning hours of Wednesday, April 27, 2022, while a resident of the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. Betty was born on January 30, 1930, to the late Clarence E. and Hazel M. (Gardlock) Vandervort in Brookville, PA. She graduated from the Brookville High School with the Class of 1948. Betty married Malcolm Jack Mauk on June 22, 1948, at the Evangelical United Brethren Parsonage in Brookville; Malcolm preceded her in passing on June 30, 2002. Betty worked many jobs around the Brookville area some of which included Dan Smith’s Candy, Sylvania, Bilo, DeMan’s, Brockway Glass, and the Brookville Cable Company. She was a longtime member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville. Betty loved everyone, she made friends easily and with everyone she met. She loved playing cards, bingo, and bowling. Betty loved to travel and camping with her husband and children. She enjoyed her time as a volunteer at Laurelbrooke Landing and the Heritage House, both in Brookville. Betty is survived by three children; Lynda (Marc) Bauer, Richard (Beth) Mauk, and Ronald C. Mauk; eight grandchildren; Ryan, Tyler (Lauren), Sarah (Nick), Mary (Lee), Rebekah (Bill), Dani (Andrew), Amanda (Chris), and Roberto (Cassidy); and eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in passing by five siblings: Mary Lou McKinney, Robert Vandervort, Juanita Egan, Virginia Smith, and Joyce Murphy. Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 5pm to 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 S. White St., Brookville, PA 15825, on Saturday, April 30, 2022, beginning at 11am and officiated by Pastor Chuck Jack.
