Obituary

James A. Means (70), (known to most as Jim), passed away peacefully July 8, 2021 at DuBois Nursing Home. He was born on July 8, 1951 at Adrian Hospital in Punxsutawney, PA to James H. and Betty J. Means.

 

Prior to graduating from Punxsutawney Area High School, Jim worked with his father for Means Brothers Construction Co. He was later drafted into the armed forces and served in the Army Reserve. He enjoyed driving his tractor-trailer as well as his coal truck for J&M Trucking and J. Means Trucking Co. Jim volunteered for Perry Township Volunteer Fire Co. as well as the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.

He is survived by his mother, Betty J. Means and sister, Diana M. Gemmell, of Valier as well as his former wives Katrina, Kathryn, and Sara.  He’s also survived by his four children: Heath, Johanna, Kaylyn, and Andrew.

 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Means; and his father James H. Means.

 

Before his father passed away in 2014, Jim enjoyed spending quality time with him. Later, he lived with his son, Andrew.  He was happy and proud of his children including: Johanna's success, Kaylyn's marriage, Heath's family, and Andrew's care and support.

 

Jim’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson Street, Punxsutawney, PA  15767.

 

His cremated remains will be laid to rest in Valier Cemetery; Valier, PA.
