James "Jim" Reitz Obituary

James “Jim” William Reitz, 89, of Knoxdale, PA, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois in DuBois, PA. Jim was born on November 7, 1932, to the late William M. and Lottie E. (Johnson) Reitz in Emerickville, PA. He graduated from Brookville Area High School and served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany for two years. On August 11, 1956, Jim married the love of his life Ruth Kerr; Ruth preceded him in passing on November 5, 2010. He was a longtime member of the Knoxdale Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church until its closing. He also attended the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville. Jim was a handy man who loved farming and gardening. He enjoyed spending time tinkering around in the garage fixing anything he could find. He loved working on his truck and other vehicles as well. Jim also had a great memory with maps and could tell you the directions and how long it will take someone to get to Syracuse, NY. Jim also had a great personality, he was a character, always ready to make someone laugh. Above all else, Jim loved his family especially his six grandsons and three great – grandsons. Jim is survived by three children; Patricia (David) Fike of Brookville, PA, Donna (David) Bennett of DuBois, PA, James “Jim” (Anna) Reitz of Chester, VA; three sisters; Shirley Smith of Sprankles Mills, PA, Bertha “Bert” Powell of Indiana, PA, Arlene Minich of Brookville, PA; two brothers; Robert “Bob” Reitz of Reynoldsville, PA, and Everett Reitz of Brookville, PA. Jim is also survived by his six grandsons; Matthew, Andrew, Travis, Lukas, Ryan, and Tyler, and three great – grandsons; Christopher, Jase, and Oliver. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim is preceded in passing by one sister; Mary Ellen Mowery; and one brother; Edward “Ed” Reitz. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 5pm – 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A second viewing will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 11am – 2pm, also at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held immediately following the second viewing beginning at 2pm and officiated by Rev. Glenn McQuown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knoxdale Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, PO Box 94, Knoxdale, PA 15847, or to the donor’s choice. Interment will take place at Knoxdale Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Knoxdale, Jefferson Co, PA.
