Patricia L. “Patty” Gray, 96, of Brookville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born September 19, 1929, in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edgar M. and Margaret (Kanipp) Huffman.
Patty graduated from Brookville Area High School. She was known and loved by everyone as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She married her husband, Donald Garrison Gray, on September 18, 1949, in Corsica, PA. The couple shared nearly 67 years of marriage until Donald’s passing in 2016. Together they raised four sons in the Brookville area. Patty was a lifelong Christian and member of the Roseville Independent Chapel.
As a young woman, Patty worked at the American Hotel and the Creamery. During her marriage she was employed at the Sylvania factory and as a cook at the Inman Nursing Home. Later in life, she and her sister-in-law, Mary Lu Boddorf, attended beautician school and each opened their own shops in their homes. Above all, Patty considered her greatest role and joy to be that of homemaker for her husband and their four boys. She was a fabulous cook whose meals and baked goods brought family and friends together for countless happy gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald G. Gray; her son, Christopher “Chris” Gray; her brother, Edgar Huffman; her sister, Barbara Kroh; and practically everyone her age.
Patty is survived by her three sons: Paul Gray (Lori) of Brookville, PA; Eric Gray (Elizabeth) of Edmond, OK; and Drew Gray (Lori) of Gainesville, VA; daughter-in-law: Leah Gray of North Hampton, NH; eight grandchildren: Patrick Gray (Leslie), Colin Graybuck (Claire), Alexander “Alex” Gray, Erica Larkin (Steve), Isaac Gray, Ethan Gray, Erica “Catherine” Moore (Jarrod), and Emily Rigazzi (Joe); and seven great-grandchildren: Weston, Henry, Benjamin “Finn”, Maribel, Annelise, Margaret “Margot”, and Camille “Millie”.
Patty is also survived by numerous neices and nephews. Patty’s warm presence, loving spirit, and delicious cooking will be remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched. Her family was her proudest accomplishment and greatest treasure.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 4pm to 8pm, at the McKinney - d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Roseville Independent Chapel, 3598 Rt 322, Brookville, PA 15825, beginning at 11am and officiated by Pastor Jim Fillhart. Interment will take place at Roseville Bethel Cemetery, Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Roseville Independent Chapel or to a charity of the donors choice.
