Rosalie "Rose" Myers Obituary

Rosalie M. (McKinney) Myers, 74, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully at Highland View Nursing Home in Brockway on Friday, May 15, 2026. She was born on September 28, 1951, to the late Russell and Mary Lou (Vandervort) McKinney in Niagara Falls, NY. She moved to Brookville at an early age and graduated from Brookville Area High School with the Class of 1969. She was a cheerleader throughout high school and later on in years she took the role of the Cheerleader Advisor to the next round of high school girls.

On May 2, 1970, Rose married the love of her life, Kenneth “Moose” Myers and was blessed to have 52 years of marriage before his passing in November 2023. Together they enjoyed traveling, camping, and spent several winters in Florida. Their faithful poodle, Sophie Rose, was constantly at their side. Many good times were had at family gatherings and camping at Kinzua, Benezette, the Clarion River and Clear Creek.

Rose was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She worked for several years at DZ Kidz Daycare and that was the highlight of her life. She was known there as “Miss Rosie” and helped nurture many children from infants to pre-teens.

Rose leaves behind one son: Brian (Heather) Myers; one granddaughter: Rilee Myers; one grandson: Gavin Myers; one sister: Carole (Kevin) Speer; three brothers: Russ (Barb) McKinney, Ken (Paula) McKinney, and Bill McKinney; and one sister-in-law: Helen Vandervort. She had numerous special nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose is preceded in passing by one brother: Gene Vandervort.

Following Rose’s wishes, all services will be held privately to her family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. Interment will take place at Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org, or to Brookside Senior Living, 49 Brookside Lane, Brookville, PA 15825.
