Zelma M. (Dickey) Mowrey Smith, 93, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA. Zelma was born on June 22, 1929, to the late Harry A. and Blanche N. (Wayland) Dickey in Winslow Township, PA. She attended Reynoldsville Area School District. Zelma worked for Cameron’s until she became a beloved homemaker taking care of her home and five children. Zelma was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reynoldsville, Hormtown Women’s Club, Mixed Nuts Bowling League, and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. She loved her flowers, especially taking care of her rhododendron bushes. She enjoyed watching the family farm cows from her porch. Zelma’s love language was to make sure her family never went hungry, even if they weren’t hungry. She was always cooking and baking for her family. She loved being part of her children’s activities and hobbies. She was a 4H leader and a Sunday School teacher. Zelma was a strong woman who was very pleasant to be around. She had a beautiful smile and will be missed by her family and friends. Zelma is survived by five children; Donna (Gary) Brubaker; David (Connie) Mowrey; Duaine (Karen) Mowrey; Debbie (Dan) Brownlee; Diane (Jim) Devlin; step-daughter; Debra (Vinhod) Cuppa; sister; Doris Biggie; and brother; Harold “Howie” Dickey. Zelma is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Zelma is preceded in passing by her first husband; Mervin Mowrey who she spent 50 years of marriage with; her second husband; Robert G. Smith; one brother; Calvin Dickey; two sisters; Maxine Swab; Blanche Weary; one grandson; Marc Mowrey; and one great-grandson; Luke Jones. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 329 Jackson Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851, beginning at 11am. Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
