Jean Hill, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, April 14, 2020 in the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.  She was born in Rochester Mills, PA., and was the daughter of the late Harry Hill and Flora (Pollock) Hill. 

After high school, Jean went onto college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the State Teacher’s College at Indiana University of PA.

She then pursued a career in elementary school education as a teacher.  Her favorite grade to teach was 2nd grade.  She was a very loving, kind, and compassionate educator.

Upon her retirement (and before), Jean enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and attending church.  One of her favorite bible verses was:

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give HOPE and a FUTURE.”

Jean is survived by one sister-in-law, Joyce Hill.  Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. 

She is also survived by many cousins and their families. She was known for loving them all unconditionally.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were two brothers and sister-in-laws Wayne and Lois Hill and Ralph and Hazel Hill.

The Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, PA is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Jean.

Due to the health and safety concerns associated with corona virus, there will be no public viewing.  A private graveside service will be held at the family’s discretion. Jean’s family will plan a celebration of her life to be held at a later date.

Donations in Jean’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of your choice.

My mother and Jean were friends and neighbors for the past 40+ years. My mother Florence Stark has many good memories of visiting with Jean while living at Grubes Mobile home park. She was always a kind soft spoken lady and will be missed. God Bless. Heaven gained another special angel.
